Expedition Grade coats
At Malin we have over 20 years experience in producing the highest quality outdoor coats.
This is achieved by combining our experience of what is needed to thrive in extreme weather with the talent of the best coat cutters in the industry.
Our coats have performed exceptionally in the most testing environments: explorers have taken them to the Falkland Islands, Congo Basin and Greenland; fishermen use them across the globe – from the Kola peninsular to Patagonia; and our shooting fraternity quite simply swear by them.
All our coats are made in Britain.
Made with Ventile®
Ventile® traces its extraordinary history back to 1943.
Scientists at the Shirley Institute were asked by Winston Churchill to develop an immersion suit for RAF pilots guarding the Arctic convoys in the North Sea. His concern was justified – fighter pilots who ditched into the sea were contracting hypothermia within 4 minutes.
The development of Ventile® was groundbreaking. Scientists tested it for water resistance, where it surpassed other materials being assessed. In fact, it was so water resistant that pilots who ditched into the sea saw their chances of beating hypothermia increase by 80%. Ventile® smocks are in use today by NATO Tornado fighter pilots.
We use Ventile® in our Malin coats for other reasons too. Because it is a natural composition, it provides unrivalled durability. On top of this, Ventile® is quiet, comfortable and lightweight.
